POLICIES AND procedures

       The Center for Ethnomusicology collection shall be open for use of the following parties:

· The faculty and graduate students who are currently employed or enrolled at the UP College of Music, as well as allied disciplinal fields within the University of the Philippines System;

· Bonafide scholars representing academic, scholarly, and cultural institutions, in the Philippines and abroad;

· Individual scholars and artists doing cooperative study and research with the Center;

· Consultants, informants and resource persons in specific research areas;

· Center Fellows (to be established later)

· Visiting educational groups

 

       Access and use of the Center collection and facilities shall be confined to academic study as well as purely scholarly research, creative work and teaching. The Center reserves the right to refuse access to anyone with extra-academic or extra-scholarly purpose, except in highly meritorious circumstances.

Present valid ID and register of name and nature of business at the Daily Logbook

UP College of Music Graduate Students

Present valid ID and register of name, course number for which the research is required

Other UP Scholars and Researchers

Present formal letter of request from Department/Units

Completed and approved registration application form

Non-UP Scholars and Researchers

Present formal letter of request from institution

Photocopy of two pictured ID’s

Completed and approved registration application form

Present institution ID, register of name and nature of business on the Daily Logbook.

ALL USERS are required to show institutional ID card (UP, academic, cultural) before being admitted to the Center. Such identification will be held by the staff until all items are returned in good condition.

Entry

1. Smoking, eating or drinking are NOT permitted in the Center under any circumstances.

2. Books, magazines, coats, brief cases, bags, folders, envelopes or enclosed containers must be deposited at the designated space at the entrance.

3. Only laptops, writing materials may be carried inside the Center.  Biros, fountain pens, felt tips and other pens and corrective fluids are not to be used.

4. Researchers must handle all records carefully and not mark, fold, tear or harm the records in any way.  The staff always welcomes information about cataloguing deficiencies, but under no circumstances shall the researcher rearrange manuscript materials or disturb the physical arrangement of individual pieces of manuscript and others.  Any damage found in the material should be immediately reported to the staff.

5. Published materials may be requested from the librarian.

6. No material is to be removed from the research room by the researcher.

7. Group tours or class visits must be arranged well in advance to minimize disturbance to other users.

8. Researchers must respect conventions of courtesy and observe silence.

9. Center’s staff are tasked to assist the researcher but also reserve the right to observe and monitor the handling of materials for their physical protection and proper use.

10. At the end of the user’s work for the day, s/he must inform the staff for “log-out”procedures.

11. The UP Center for Ethnomusicology must be duly acknowledged for any form of data accessed in the Center in all outputs produced for public dissemination and consumption.

12. Violation of any of the above policies and provisions shall constitute ground for curtailing and denying future access to the collection of the UP Center for Ethnomusicology.
